Audition Requirement

Congratulations on deciding to audition for the Campolindo Instrumental Music program! We are excited to hear your performance.

To prepare, please review the specific audition excerpts and the official evaluation rubric for your desired ensemble below. Click the underlined links to access the sheet music for your instrument. Within each file, you will find the required scales (including the chromatic scale) and the solo excerpt.

Break a leg!

For your Orchestra audition, your adjudicator can ask you any major scale and expect that you can play it in one octave. If you can play it in two or three, that’s even better!
In addition, we will ask that you prepare one section of the piece (search by your instrument name) from the audition music file here.

Here is the Excerpt List and official Music Rubric, we'll use to evaluate your performance during the audition.

Please prepare ONE of the etudes included for your instrument.

Play the head and improvise one chorus of “It Hurts Me Too” by Elmore James. You’ll use this backing track in the audition.

Drums, you do not need to do this element- only the etudes.

Note there is no printed music for this tune: you are meant to learn it by ear.

We highly recommend all prospective and current music students consider enrolling in private music lessons and joining a musiccamp, workshop, or specialized band during the school year or summer months. These experiences are invaluable for growth and developing skills outside of the classroom.
